In case of crash or change of phone, you can lose all the contents of your Android phone including SMS and MMS messages you've exchanged. With the free app SMS Backup +, you can back up SMS and MMS directly to your Gmail account. Copies of messages then appear with a special label in your Gmail where you can see them at leisure on your phone, computer or tablet.

The backup can be manually or you can set it up to be automatic and you do not have to worry about them. Incidentally, the author recommends installing the application in the phone memory and not on a memory card to avoid problems autosave.

SMS Backup + can also save the log of your calls and insert it into your Google Calendar schedule.

After a change of phone or a crash, you can restore your SMS messages in your phone. For now, the MMS can not be restored but it will soon be added to the application.
