Microsoft just announced that DirectX 12 will be published only on Windows 10.The new API will be accompanied by DirectX 11.3 which will incorporate some of the features of DirectX 12 and which will be published on Windows 8.
Windows 7 and Windows Vista use a downgraded version of Direct3D 11 which should not be updated.
DirectX 12 makes its debut
The editor encourages players to participate in its Windows program Insider to test the API in phase beta. He also calls for developers who have a subscription to UnrealEngine 4, version 4.4 of the graphics engine have already been brought in part on thenew API.
For memory, DirectX 12 is close to the API Mantle. It seeks to optimize the performance in dealing with the information directly from the pipeline, which will be mainly an advantage on the platforms less performance.
The first Intel results were encouraging. The API should be supported by the Skylake S processors. It will also propose new methods made to reduce the role of textures in memory.
